A few words of welcome from the leader of Onelife

A few words of welcome from the leader of Onelife

9:20 Thursday 27 August 2009

We’re fast approaching Onelife’s first birthday (on November the 1st for those who want to send a card!) and when I look back over the past year I can hardly believe all that has happened! There are more files stored on my laptop than I thought were possible to create, we’ve had more meetings and conversations with churches and organisations than I thought the pages of my diary could fit, and the flood of opportunities has left us staggered at the uptake for all that Onelife is about. But most of all we’ve begun connecting with a load of incredible young leaders and youth leaders who are passionately going about the cause of growing the Kingdom of God where they live.

I feel totally and utterly privileged to have seen what’s going on from the dizzy heights of Scotland to the (beautiful) depths of Cornwall! And now here we are launching the long awaited website. Huge thanks to Matt, Alex and Paul for the hours they have been pouring into it.

I’ve just started reading a book called ‘Tribes’ by Seth Godin, a guy I heard speak when I was in America last ‘fall’. ‘Tribes’ is all about how people live and respond in our culture. It explains how we all love to be a part of something, to identify with a group and feel part of a movement. As ive begun flicking through the pages, Onelife has been at the forefront of my mind. According to Seths descriptions it seems that something of a movement has begun for young leaders in the UK, and not just because of Onelife. Other organisations are getting serious about leadership training and the need to train up young people. I’m so excited by what could be in the years to come – so excited that we even wrote to Gordon Brown and Prince Charles about it! They both replied, but you’ll have to come and have a chat face to face to find out what they said!

If this ‘movement’ continues, things are looking up for a nation that generally looks down on the bleakness of our future. We hope and pray that this website will play a huge part in resourcing and inspiring you to become the leader that God has called you to be, we pray that it will help inspire a movement of young leaders who are intent on leading life full of character and integrity; biblically inspired influencers who will play a huge role in transforming the UK over the coming decades.

Keep checking out this blog for up to date news, views and thoughts from Onelife. We want to share everything we think is worth sharing, encourage you with testimonies, inspire you with insights that we glean from the incredible people we get to hang out with and continuously provoke you to become transformational leaders!

Stay Connected,

Pete
